Rediscovering Gentleness through Authentic Business

This is the final post of a four-part series where I share how I rediscovered the quality of Gentleness through:

  1. The Wonder Method
  2. Aroma Freedom Techniques (AFT)
  3. Human Design
  4. Authentic Business

Though this is not a healing or intuitive modality like the previous three modalities I mentioned, learning and doing my online energy healing business authentically and in a grounded manner has caused a significant shift in me too!

According to George Kao, the first coach that I learned about Authentic Business from, he explained:

An authentic business feels deeply meaningful, and financially supports you. It’s not just one you’d do for the money. The activity or topic is itself worthwhile to you, even if you had to do it for free. On the other hand, it’s not just about “doing what you love.” It is an Authentic Business, a true livelihood.- George Kao

I first learned about George Kao and his generous advice and tips on building an Authentic Business through a Facebook group for conscious business owners in 2017. I took one of his online courses and loved his calming presence and how he offered opportunities for interaction with other course participants during and even after the course has ended. His approach is vastly different from the pain-based marketing techniques I learned from the internet.

Before I knew about his approach, the way I perceived marketing was to make my prospects feel the intensity of the pain of their problem and explain to them how I can help take their pain away. This approach felt very restrictive and I felt like I needed to be a pushy person instead of being a calming and healing presence while I am marketing and selling my services. Marketing felt like a forceful activity that felt out of integrity with who I am, and yet I felt that if I refuse to do pain-based marketing, nobody will want to buy my healing services. I also did not feel comfortable creating and posting content as I thought I needed to portray myself as a totally non-judgmental healer with no views at all.

After learning so much from George Kao’s free videos and blog posts that he posted generously on Facebook, I decided to dive into a year-long business mastermind group with George Kao as my business mentor in early 2018. It felt like a crazy decision as at that time, I had just given birth to my third son a few months ago and I was busy taking care of him all day long, in addition to taking care of my other two sons. Even though I was not able to commit and benefit fully from all the support that was being offered throughout the year-long Mastermind, I still:

  • Gained a lot more revenue (compared to previous years) that was more than adequate to pay for the year-long Mastermind,
  • Had more consistent income every month,
  • Collaborated with a fellow Mastermind friend Sandy Freschi who is now my Human Design mentor!
  • Started developing my expertise as I expressed more about my views on gentle healing
  • Grew the size of my audience, (some of whom became my clients) who show appreciation for my free content regularly!

What I rediscovered about Gentleness through Authentic Business

I learned through Authentic Business how sacred it is to be able to serve authentically through my business.

I am reminded that my decision to offer healing sessions is really not just about earning money. I once gave up on doing energy healing when I first became a mom. Years went by and I got so depressed being totally cut off from my healing practice. Being able to connect authentically with my clients and being trusted to facilitate healing for them gives me great joy and power. This is why my energy healing practice is truly an Authentic Business for me.

The most important thing I rediscovered about Gentleness through Authentic Business is that Gentleness is definitely not about hiding my own opinions, even if I facilitate healing in a non-judgmental way. I am practising true Gentleness on myself as I share freely about my own insights on healing and express my personality instead of forcing myself to be as neutral as possible. - Bingz Huang

As I work on various parts of my business with mindfulness and as who I am authentically, I am being gentle on myself.

When I connect with my peers, audience and clients authentically, without puffing up my credentials or selling my services out of desperation, I am being gentle on them as well. The lack of pulling or pushing allows me to naturally attract the right peers, audience and clients for my business at the right time. As I purposefully connect with my audience and clients, I learn to continually improve on my services or create new ones that they want to buy and benefit from.

As someone who is used to hiding part of herself in other not to inconvenience or offend anyone, it can be really uncomfortable and sometimes even scary appearing as who I am. The bravest step I have taken to embrace authenticity and my calling to share about gentleness is in being interviewed by George. This is my most recent interview with him on the topic of Gentleness:

With a video interview that we did in just one take, I had to trust and appear as myself as much as I can. Coincidentally I had a sore throat just hours before recording the interview, so I had to really walk the talk and practise gentleness on myself while speaking. It does sound like my voice felt clearer and smoother towards the end of the video!

I hope that you have enjoyed this four-part series on rediscovering Gentleness! I truly appreciate the underlying energy of Gentleness radiating throughout my teachers and mentors as they teach me these wonderful modalities.

Where and from whom do you experience Gentleness in your life? I would love to know!
